Remote consulting for Australia

IT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity Consulting for Australian Businesses

Remote cybersecurity, backup and IT infrastructure consulting for Australian small and mid-sized businesses, aligned to practical Essential Eight priorities.

15+ years in enterprise IT · Delivered remotely · Written scope before work starts · Direct access to the consultant

Why businesses in Australia ask for this

Many Australian organisations use the Australian Signals Directorate's Essential Eight as a practical reference for security priorities, including patching, multi-factor authentication, restricting administrative privileges and regular backups. Businesses also handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988, including the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Services are advisory. They are not a formal Essential Eight maturity assessment, certification or legal advice.

Who we work with

Australian small and mid-sized businesses, professional-service firms and agencies that want an independent view of their security and infrastructure without hiring a full-time specialist.

How remote delivery works for Australia

Delivery is remote and there is no Australian office. Because of the time difference, the overlap with consultation hours (14:00–22:00 IST) is the Australian evening: roughly from 18:30 AEST (19:30 AEDT) onwards on the east coast, and from about 16:30 in Western Australia. Written findings and async updates cover the Australian working day.

Not sure you need a large IT project?

You can start with a focused assessment, understand what needs attention, and decide what to do next.

Begin with a Cybersecurity Quick Assessment, an MFA Readiness Review or a Backup Health Assessment. You receive a prioritised written list that you can map against Essential Eight priorities with your own adviser, then decide what to remediate.

Why work with an independent consultant

  • 15+ years of enterprise IT experience, including roles at IBM, Wipro, Varian Medical Systems.
  • You deal directly with Koustov Choudhury, who scopes the work and is accountable for it.
  • Written scope, deliverables and exclusions before any work or payment.
  • Practical recommendations in priority order, not a sales pitch for products.
  • Remote delivery with secure, limited access, and no claim of a local office or staff.

Questions from businesses in Australia

Do you perform an official Essential Eight assessment?

No. Reviews are advisory and use the Essential Eight as a reference for priorities. They are not a formal maturity assessment or certification.

How do you handle the time difference with Australia?

Calls are offered 14:00–22:00 IST on weekdays, which is the Australian evening. Most of the work is asynchronous with written updates, and calls are booked in that overlap.

Can you tell us if we need to notify a data breach?

No, that is a legal determination. We can review whether the logs, backups and access controls you would need in an incident are in place.

Can you review our IT infrastructure from overseas?

Yes. Most reviews need only read access to cloud tenants, backup consoles and network configuration, shared securely, plus a few calls in the Australian evening. Anything that requires hands on hardware is outside the scope.

Why use an independent IT consultant rather than another provider?

An independent consultant has no product to sell you, so the findings are about your risks and priorities. That is useful before a renewal, a migration or a decision on a new provider.
